After watching the Sunday’s race from Talladega, I was wondering just how much the average NASCAR race fan understood about drafting.  The article that I have linked below gives the reader a very good understanding of just how and why drafting works.  It will explain why 2 cars are better than one.  It also explains why then that three cars are not better than two, etc.

Quoting Prof Pi, “Racing is the most dramatic demonstration of math and science in action, moreover, it is accessible to students anywhere.”

For a really great scientific explanation of drafting check out this article titled “Pas de Duex”.
